"Frontwomen IV" Courtney Love

Mz Love had an itinerant childhood, but was primarily raised in Portland,
Oregon, where she played in a series of short-lived bands and was active
in the local punk scene. After briefly being in a juvenile hall, she
spent a year living in Dublin and Liverpool before returning to the
United States and pursuing an acting career

Love spent her early years in Haight-Ashbury, San Francisco, until her parents divorced in 1970. In a custody hearing, her mother, as well as one of her father's girlfriends, testified that Hank had dosed Courtney with LSD when she was a toddler. Carroll also alleged that Hank threatened to abduct his daughter and flee with her to a foreign country. Though Hank denied these allegations, his custody was revoked.

Love has a contralto vocal range.
According to Love, she never wanted to be a singer, but rather aspired
to be a skilled guitarist: "I'm such a lazy bastard though that I never
did that", she said. "I was always the only person with the nerve to
sing, and so I got stuck with it." She has been regularly noted by critics for her husky vocals as well as her "banshee -like" screaming abilities. Her vocals have been compared to those of Johnny Rotten, and David Fricke of Rolling Stone described them as "lung-busting" and "a corrosive, lunatic wail". I'm not good at mashing adjectives and superlatives to form a 'critical' opinion. I do have eyes and ears. I know what I see and I know what I hear. They have served me well in the seventy plus years I have been listening to music.

What I see when I watch Maggie Rose perform live is, a woman and her music. I attended two shows in the last week (December 18th) of the "Have A Seat" tour, which by the way began in July.

What I saw was 110 percent. A woman who did not back up one inch in any of her performances, after six months. Every show was from the gut and her heart. Two different audiences, the Brooklyn crowd and the Chicago mid-west gang. Both were buzzing about what they had just seen.

I read reviewers who write "she's gifted"... "she has a gift" Maggie has several gifts. She has a heart, a personality, a stage presence, and the voice. A versatile voice with range and a soul. And she leaves it all out there every night. Her lyrics are, simple, universal, and attached to melodic lines that stay with you. Her musicians, her support group on stage, is top notch.

Maggie sings from the inside out. "All good art is self revelation"

Whatever you do, don't tell Maggie...It is what it is.

Here are some images from the shows~~ VIDEO~Maggie Rose

Pete Carma and Maggie Rose

Pete Carmahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00213617942911572419noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5730056083944039262.post-16810527135000331942021-10-28T21:49:00.002-07:002021-10-28T21:56:34.938-07:00StreetcredMusic: Kristin Hoffmann, "Water Of Life"
Kristin Hoffmann

Water of Life" was created as a special new piece of music to celebrate

Kayce Laine and Carole King
The piano is an acoustic, stringed musical instrument invented in Italy by Bartolomeo Cristofori
around the year 1700 (the exact year is uncertain), in which the
strings are struck by wooden hammers that are coated with a softer
material (modern hammers are covered with dense wool felt; some early
pianos used leather). It is played using a keyboard,
which is a row of keys (small levers) that the performer presses down
or strikes with the fingers and thumbs of both hands to cause the
hammers to strike the strings.

So take a look here at a familiar face Kayce Laine an original #Pianowoman. Four years now after the first #Pianowomen shoot, we got together to see what's been going on in her life.

***************************

We did not know it but just days after we were in New York City shooting this, Covid devastated the area we were staying in. Kayce went back to Nashville and spent a week with a flu like illness. Me I got lucky I guess, I was fine.

More interviews: CLICK HERE

Pete Carmahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00213617942911572419noreply@blogger.com0
