Saturday

Support Each Other, Indie Artists, New York City.

...you see Yuli, had a show this week. I invited all the songstresses I know to stop and see her.
It was with a band, her trio, Kiss Slash Crooked Smile one of the four fronts that Yuli wages her Love and Music war on.

KSCS: Asi Spector, guitar...Yuli Beeri...Stefano Baldasseroni, percussion.
The show was fanatical...but that's not what this is about.
It's about what the other songstresses said about her and the band, and the fact that they had never seen her perform before.

Here were the four comments that came back to me from the women who I respect for their work, their talent and as friends.

1.Holy Shit, Pete!!! She is sooo goood!!      2.Thanks Pete Carma, this girl is a fu#^*ing STAR!

3.She knocked me out!         4.Just when I though I had seen all the best musicians in NYC, you bring me this chick, Yuli!!! Wonderful!

                              *********************************************************

My point here is that there are dozens of great Indie Artists in NYC that dozens of other Indie Artists have never seen. I try to get you guys out to support each other. When I tout  someone, I'm doing it because they are wonderful, and in most cases unique. Remember I am totally non profit, I get no reward except the comments I listed above. I also realize that there are 'circles' of artists out there who travel in the same 'circles' all the time, and I try to get some of you to cross over....
It's all about support!

Here are some others to check out::::

'The Girl On Pete's Blog', Part ll, Greta Panettieri

In the last couple of weeks, once when I was in New York City, and just twice this last week, three of the wonderful women I write about on this blog have been identified as 'the girl on Pete's blog'.

The best one was when I walked in to a club with Clara Lofaro, and the bartender said Hi Pete, and she looked at CLo and said "you look familiar, are you that girl on Pete's blog".

I should be happy about that but I'm not. Sure it's great that more and more people are reading the blog, but I want them to support these wonderful artists, and to do that they need their names!

So this will be a series of pieces to make sure the names get our there. Everyone wants me to do a Top Ten Sexiest Vocalists, like I did with pianos and guitars, no way I'm doing that!!

                                            *******************************
So, here's Part ll...Greta Panettieri

Call her Greta!

Greta has a GREAT sense of humor, and a story I tell~ happened last year. I was in  jazz club in Chicago and an elderly woman came up to me and said "you are the young man who has that blog. That skinny girl, the brunet, with the dimples, she can sing!"

Well yes she can and she has dimples....her name:: Greta Panettieri! got it Greta!
Listen to: Greta: a clip from the Doc film

Greta lives now in Rome, Italy and has two great projects that will be released any day now.
'Greta Sings Mina' and then an all new album with Greta's Bakery

Greta will be back in NYC this summer to finish a doc film we are doing called 'StreetcredMusic'

Greta has a new page on Facebook, you could 'like'...and enjoy~Greta on FB

My personal comment on Greta: The greatest compliment a singer can get is when the band applauds you after a tune...I've seen that several times with her, now remember, GRETA!

The Girl on Pete's Blog, Part I, MaryC

In the last couple of weeks, once when I was in New York City, and just twice this last week, three of the wonderful women I write about on this blog have been identified as 'the girl on Pete's blog'.

                                    **********************************

So here we go, I'll start with, MaryC

  MaryC
Really, the best way to remember her is to go and see her live! You will never forget her name, (MaryC) her music or her voice, that can rattle the walls of any building in the city, or be as smooth and sassy and audacious as an accomplished R&B songstress.

Here's a review of her (MaryC) smash CD I did a while back....'Right On Time'

Got it MARYC....this is her...YouTube page, enjoy!

Got it MaryC!

Wednesday

She Said~She Said. Aziza Mustafa Zadeh & Cezara Lucia Vladescu

You make the call on this one. Two of the worlds greatest pianist. Not to mention the differences in their life style. I love watching both of them for soooo many different but wonderful reasons.

I picked Aziza as my #1 sexiest pianist a year ago.
Here, have some fun with them....

  Aziza Mustafa Zadeh
She is brilliant, amazingly gifted musically, and the subtlety of her performances mesmerize me. Why?  ...because she presents her unearthly talent so simply.
Most of the 'experts' have tagged her the Princess of Jazz, which is a an injustice. To put a jazz only label on her...no way, her music transcends all genre.

Enjoy her video:: Aziza's music!

                                      *****************************************

Cezara Lucia Vladescu....Hmmmmmm? I said of her she makes Gaga look like a Girl Scout, that got some really positive comments. She defines herself as 'The missing link' between Classic and Jazz.
That's fine with me, but she can 'Rock' too! I love watching her but not because of her subtlety, it's her boldness and bursting self esteem and confidence in her compositions and the way she let's you know....she's the boss...."it's not over till she says it is".

  Cezara Lucia Vladescu
Enjoy her GR8 Video; "Song For Dodo"

Get her CD here::Songs for Dodo

When you watch these videos, check out some of their others, they are so diverse one video does not do them justice..

to see other pieces I have written on them type their names in the 'search' box....Enjoy~~
