Well I think the experiment is over. She now is recognized as the #1 speaker of truth and projector of sanity, and a protector of our humanity over technology.

StreetcredMusic: 'The Flight' By Jade Simmons

Lillette's Rhythm Club fits not only in black history, but American history. The club/hotel/casino was established in 1945, in Reno, Sparks, Nevada. Making it the first such venue owned and operated by African-Americans...Lillette Jenkins and husband Bud Harris.

 A new musical titled "Lillette's Rhythm Club, Then and Now" is coming to the stage soon.
It will feature another woman of color who has shattered barriers in her own generation,
Jade Simmons.
 ...The first 'single' from the score of the show was given to Streetcred, by Jade, this week.

Lillette had her own 'jazzed up' version of Rimsky-Korsakov's "Flight of the Bumblebee" and for this show Jade Simmons the Maestra of piano rhythms will introduce her 21st Century version. "The Flight" .. it's four and a half minutes of excitement.

Whenever I listen to Jade Simmons it seems like she is using all 88 keys, of course she is not.
However, she keeps the original 'bees' under control and adds a touch of her own honey, and keeps a strong bottom sound going, to create a possible show stopper for the musical.

StreetcredMusic: A Virtually Unknown Event in Black History: Lillette's Rhythm Club: Then and Now

As we come to the end of Black History Month, I've saved the best for last.
I lived in Nevada for twenty years, and when I first arrived from New York City, in 1968, I was shocked to see it was as segregated as the southern states. Women, Blacks and gays were subjected to more prejudice that I had ever seen in my 24 years in New York.

That puts in prospective where Lillette's Rhythm Club fits in, not only in black history, but American history. The club/hotel/casino was established in 1945, in Reno, Sparks, Nevada. Making it the first such venue owned and operated by African-Americans...Lillette Jenkins and husband Bud Harris.

In Lillette's Rhythm Club: Then and Now, we get to relive some of that great era of music, and learn to respect the courage that such an undertaking needed.

Their unique musical style led to the R&B and Rock&Roll genres, and the subgenre doo-wop. The Ink Spots were widely accepted in both the white and black communities, largely due to the ballad style introduced to the group by lead singer Bill Kenny.

The Nicholas Brothers were a team of dancing brothers, Fayard (1914–2006) and Harold(1921–2000), who performed a highly acrobatic technique known as "flash dancing". With a high level of artistry and daring innovations, they were considered by many to be the greatest tap dancers of their day. Their performance in the musical number "Jumpin' Jive" (with Cab Calloway and his orchestra) featured in the movie Stormy Weather is considered by many to be the most virtuosic dance display of all time.

Frankie Lymon & The Teenagers:
Frankie grew up just a few blocks from me, he was a Giant to the street kids.
He fell victim to the vultures of the record industry and his addictions, which lead to his tragic end.

The Teenagers were one of only a few groups of that time to have their music played on white radio networks, and of course only in cities like NY, Chicago, Detroit and Cleveland.

 I am so lucky to have seen these GR8 performers in small venues in the Bronx and Harlem.
The energy they they generated at their shows was as tangible as sunlight.
